BRIEF HISTORY

1951
Foundation of the company in Montluçon by Mr. Rochelet, designer of the permanent pressure system of dry chemical extinguishers. Mr. Jean Picard is entrusted with the distribution of the extinguishers and opens 40 branches around the world. Most of these are still operating today.

1963
Mr. Jean Picard teams up with his brother Roger to open a branch in Canada. They first set up shop in Alma, then in Jonquière, and then become partners with the company Pierre Thibault Ltée in Ville d'Anjou in 1967.

1970
Mr. Jean-Max Picard (our current president) is named Vice-President.

1972
End of the partnership with Pierre Thibault Ltée. The company moves to Longueuil, 625 Guimond Street. A repair service for light and heavy-duty fire-fighting units is added.

1974
Partnerships with Akron, Kaufman, MSA, National Fire Hose, Scythes Clothing and several other major companies.

1979
Mr. Roger Picard retires and passes the torch to his son, Jean-Max. The company moves to 615 Guimond Street.

1984
Expansion of facilities.

1985
Signing of an exclusive contract (sale and service) with the world-leading Hurst Jaws of Life company, as well as Cairns-AIR Inc.

1986
Areo-Fire Ltd became an authorized service center for Hale products.

1993
Introduction contract for POK products (end of contract in 2002).

1997
Introduction contract for POK products (end of contract in 2002).

1999
Distribution contract of MSA products.

2000
Signing of an exclusive contract with American Lafrance (a division of Freightliner) for the sale and service of fire trucks (pumper and ladder trucks). Expansion of our offices (heavy equipment service).

2001
Exclusivity contract with Innotex, bunker suit manufacturer.

2002
Exclusivity contract for CET pumps and ladders.

2003
Continually on the lookout for new markets, Areo-Fire is expanding its offer to serve New Brunswick and Ontario. Fast delivery and variety of stock make Areo-Fire stand out from the competition.

At the dawn of its 40th anniversary, Areo-Fire is proud to carry on its family tradition with a third generation, always at the service of its customers.

Number 1 MSA Fire Service Canada for 2004.

Exclusif distributor for American Lafrance firetruck in New-Brunswick.

Areo-Fire Ltd moved to a new head office at 5205, J.-Armand-Bombardier, Longueuil (Québec).

Installation, pieces and service center for the Groneveld greasing system.

Exclusivity contract with Nautic & Arts and Rosborough (boats).

Introduction of confined space and rescue equipment with PETZL.

Exclusivity contract (East of Canada) with Haix a leather boots manufacturer.

Authorized pieces and service center for Spartan products.

Exclusivity contract with Rosenbauer fire trucks for the East and north of Ontario, Quebec, New-Brunswick and the Labrador.

2009
Number one distributor of MSA products in the fire service category, for the year 2009.

Sales effort recongnition from Spartan products, for the year 2009.

Inauguration of our “Engagement Incendie” award that recognizes the achievement of the firefighting profession from members of our community.

Awarded the prize of excellence from Hydro-Quebec "Mieux Consommer".

First award "Concours Engagement" given to MRC de l'Érable to Mr. Mario Gagné, which was the representative for his department.
